Office For The Dead: 1979 BCP
We are pleased to offer a new resource. From the introduction:
The Office for the Dead, or a memorial version of the Daily Office (Morning Prayer, Mid-day Prayer, Evensong, and Compline), has been prayed by Christians since at least the 7th century, and was retained by the Anglican Church after the Reformation. At its core, the Office for the Dead is the psalms and readings appointed for All Saints/Souls Day, together with certain additional prayers for the deceased.
It can be used either as a private devotion, to be prayed at one’s convenience, or a formal service within a community or church. The Office is suited to mourn a passing, remember the deceased, or mark the anniversary of a loss. This edition follows the Book of Common Prayer, 1979.
It is my hope that this liturgy may bring peace and comfort to those who mourn. You can view it under the “Liturgy” tab above, or view it directly with this link.
